More About The CanExport SME Grant
CanExport’s purpose is to provide grant funding of up to $50,000 to help Canadian businesses, with annual revenues between $100,000 and $100 million, expand into new international markets.
Your business proposes a “project” that has a total budget of between $10,000 and $50,000. The applicant must pay for 50% of the project and if your application is accepted Global Affairs Canada will pay for the remaining 50%.
Your application must include a detailed description of a new commercial project that, if successful, will lead to new jobs in Canada and increased sales internationally.

In previous years much of the grant money was approved for conventions, trade fairs and international trips to potential clients. With the COVID-19 Pandemic disruption, foreign travel is actively discouraged. The government now covers additional costs of international expansion that had not been previously eligible.
