On January 13, 2021, the New Brunswick Business Immigration Stream (NBBIS) program was established; an economic opportunity pathway for potential immigrant entrepreneurs outside of Canada.  All applicants are required to operate, establish, and manage their own business while settling and living in the Province of New Brunswick. Furthermore, the process starts with a Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) and leads to Permanent Residency (PR). The applicant has one year to effectively operate the business on the TRV, then the Government of New Brunswick will evaluate whether to nominate the applicant for PR.

New Brunswick also reserves its right to consider only certain types of ventures in its portfolio and nomination process. Their decision-making process is based on the local labour market, current inventory, yearly nominations, and other factors as considered by the Government of New Brunswick.

What are the requirements?

Applicants are required to provide further information to satisfy the minimum requirements for an Expression of Interest (EOI) to obtain a TRV:

• Language
  • First official language (French or English)
  • Test scores for the IELTs, CELPIP, TEF, or TCF Canada
• Education
  • Highest level of education and whether it was obtained outside of Canada
• Work Experience
  • Last 5 years of employment
• Adaptability (adds additional points)
  • Having a close family member who is a PR or citizen of Canada living in New Brunswick for at least one year
  • Completed at least two years of full-time study at a New Brunswick post-secondary institution
  • Has arranged for an offer of employment in New Brunswick
